The canton of Zurich is the most populous in Switzerland, and its official language is German. Besides the city of Zurich, it includes towns such as Winterthur, Uster, Dübendorf, Dietikon, Wädenswil and Kloten. The municipal minimum wages of Zurich (CHF 23.90 per hour) and Winterthur (CHF 23.00) were upheld by the Federal Supreme Court in 2026 but are not yet in force. Customary dates for ending a tenancy are 31 March and 30 September in the city, and 31 March, 30 June and 30 September elsewhere in the canton. Always check your lease.
