Baden AG at a glance

Baden, in the canton of Aargau, lies in a narrow bend of the Limmat a short train ride from Zurich, and its thermal springs have drawn bathers since Roman times. The town is German-speaking and was the birthplace of Brown Boveri, the engineering company that later became part of ABB. Since merging with Turgi in 2024, Baden has been the most populous municipality in Aargau. Its old town and spa quarter sit next to residential areas such as Dättwil, Rütihof and Kappelerhof, where many commuters and families live in flats or houses with gardens. Common small jobs include cleaning, babysitting, garden work, moving help and furniture assembly. Customary termination dates in Aargau are 31 March, 30 June and 30 September.
