Aargau is a German-speaking canton in northern Switzerland, between Zurich, Basel and Bern, crossed by the Aare, Reuss and Limmat rivers. Its capital is Aarau, known for the painted gables of its old town; Baden, which merged with Turgi in 2024, is now its most populous municipality, and Wettingen lies just across the Limmat from it.
